Phenylethynylpyrene（PEP）熒光素屬于多環(huán)芳烴類標記物，有較高靈敏度，是對微環(huán)境進行標記的試劑。類似于Pyrene，PEP dye很容易形成激發(fā)物。然而，PEP熒光多為紅移。
PEP可以用作微環(huán)境探針，基于激發(fā)態(tài)標記實驗。
該試劑包含三甘醇鏈可以促進非極性PEP dye在有機溶劑-水相混合標記反應中的溶解。此疊氮類染料可以很容易的用于點擊化學中對PEP標記探針引入炔烴分子。
